KISD Strategic Plan » Overview

Overview

The KISD Strategic Plan was developed through the Building Capacity Rural Grant awarded by ESC Region 13 to H.M. King Early College High School. Region 13 personnel provided the technical assistance and professional development of the Strategic Process through several sessions during the 2015-2016 school year.

The purpose of the Strategic Plan is to focus community and district resources in such a way to forge partnerships and maximize student achievement

In early fall of 2015, the KISD Board of Trustees identified the strands for the strategic plan through the SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats).

The identified strands are:
  1. Academic Achievement
  2. Capitalizing on Community Partnerships
  3. Marketing and Public Relations
  4. Financial Achievement
  5. District Culture
A Steering Committee was convened involving all KISD Stakeholders, including district and community representatives. The first Steering Committee Meeting was held on November 10th and 11th, 2015,  and the final Steering Committee Meeting was held on April 12, 2016. The Steering Committee was tasked with working collaboratively to create systems to support critical success factors present in the most successful school districts.

After the Steering Committee held its first meeting, the next group to come together was the Action Planning Committee. The Action Planning Committee held two meetings before the Steering Committee came back for their second meeting. The 1st Action Planning Committee Meeting was held on December 15, 2015, followed by the 2nd Action Planning Meeting held on February 26, 2016. The roles and responsibilities of the Action Planning Committee was to take the systems created by the Steering Committee and provide strategies for implementation at both the district and campus level.

With our Core Belief, we believe,
  • Every individual has worth and great potential
  • All stakeholders are necessary for student success
  • It is important to foster the whole person (emotional intelligence, critical thinking, etc.), instilling personal responsibility and integrity.
