PreK4 Students enjoy participating in science experiments!

The new A. D. Harvey Elementary School also known as Harveyville is the academic home to over 450 students in PreK4-fourth grade.  Our dedicated teachers and staff are committed to the education of the whole student body through an environment that promotes an open line of communication throughout the entire school community.  Everyone works together to meet and exceed the educational requirements of the State of Texas. This commitment involves the goal of making each child’s experience safe, enjoyable, and stimulating.  We stress academic excellence through differentiated instruction and good character through extra-curricular service learning.
The students in Harveyville are heterogeneously grouped.  Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies are the core academic focus areas for the students throughout the day.  Fine Arts, Music, Computer Literacy, and Physical Education/Health complete the academic offerings.  We continuously strive to make curricular improvements in order to meet the educational needs of all of our students.
Internet, including wireless access, is available in every classroom.  Many teachers are incorporating the use of technology by utilizing  multimedia presentations, and click-able worksheets throughout the curriculum.   Teachers are also utilizing many types of assistive technology for our special populations.  There are four modern computer labs available for students to use when accessing IXL Math, iStation Reading, Accelerated Reader, Living with Science Program, Think Through Math, conducting research and completing class assignments, as well as a lab in the Library Media Center.  Students and staff are also excited to use the data projectors, smart boards, laptops, netbooks, and iPads throughout the school.
A full-time school counselor works with students daily, by listening, encouraging, supporting and helping the children to develop throughout their time in school.
Our Harvey Society helps prepare our students for college and career readiness through communication, critical thinking, creativity and collaboration. Our philosophy is as follows:

Harvey Society will cultivate and develop thinkers and leaders.  We will practice community service, which will teach students what they can do right now to make the world they live in a better place and give students opportunities to become life-long, caring and productive citizens.

Harvey Society includes components that support service to the community, academics, art and music, leadership, and public speaking. Harveyville has a working recycling center, post office, public library, student medical center and so much more! You can find more about our Harvey Society on our Facebook page: Harvey Jets and our Harvey YouTube page.

A.D. Harvey Elementary School is truly an educational community that emits a friendly and warm atmosphere.  It is a place where dedicated parents and professionals interact to positively influence the lives of the students.  A. D. Harvey Elementary School will continue to strive to give students the best education possible and to teach an appreciation for the value of every individual.

Community Fair Update

The Community Fair was canceled due to inclement weather on August 25th. However, donations of school supplies, backpacks and T-Shirts were sent to our KISD Schools to put the items in the hands of the children that need them.

As we are enrolling new children to the district that might have been impacted by Hurricane Harvey or are in need of school supplies and clothing, we are trying our very best to meet their needs.

As a school district, on a yearly basis from Federal Programs/Title 1, we are able to provide 9 sets of uniforms to each of our schools for Pre-K through 8th grade. In addition, the Kleberg Area Association of Realtors provide shoes to our district children. Therefore, our Federal Programs Office provides 5 pairs of shoes to each of our schools for needy children.

A couple of entities have offered to collect school supplies and sets of uniforms to be provided to children that were impacted by Hurricane Harvey that are enrolling in our schools. If these uniforms come to us, they will go immediately to these children and if there are any extras, they will be sent to other Texas areas in need.

At this time, we would like to express our most heartfelt thanks to the following Community Sponsors for their donations which include:
Communities in Schools,
Gear Up Grant, Dr. Mary Gonzalez-TAMUK
Kleberg Elementary,
Kleberg Area Association of Realtors,
Liz Saenz: Caring Helping Hands Ministries, Inc.,
MicroSociety International,
New Wave Communications,
TAMUK President’s Office,
Perez Elementary and
San Antonio Youth Ed. Support.

KISD Outreach to Families Impacted by "Harvey"

Kingsville ISD---Press Release

August 27, 2017

The Kingsville ISD Family and Community is known for always coming together to lend a helping hand to our neighbors in need and Hurricane Harvey has provided that opportunity.

Some of our fellow Texans north of Kingsville have sought temporary shelter with their extended families in our own city. KISD is providing an outreach to these families and opening our Schools to their school age children.

Our goal is to ensure that we enroll children into a classroom as soon as possible so that their education continues.

The enrollment process that the District will follow for families displaced by Hurricane Harvey is as follows:

• Contact the Kingsville ISD Office of Curriculum and Instruction at 361-592-3387 to enroll children or come by this office at the KISD Administration Building at 207 N. 3rd St. Kingsville, TX 78363.

• Families that are displaced as a result of the hurricane can still enroll without documentation.

The first day of classes for Kingsville ISD is Tuesday August 29th.

For further information, please contact the Office of Curriculum and instruction at 361-592-3387.
