To all KISD Teachers/Staff/Parents:

Please review the attached Draft‐Instructional Calendar for 2022‐2023 reviewed and proposed by the District Educational Improvement Committee (DEIC) on 1/19/22. The summary below includes details of the proposed changes.

• The October 7, 2022, Project KEEP/Early Release for Students was moved to October 20, 2022, which is after the end of the 1st grading period to allow teachers the opportunity to review and distribute report cards to parents.
• The October 11, 2022, Professional Development was moved to October 21, 2022.
• The 1st grading period went from 37 to 38 days because the October 11, 2022, Professional Development was moved to October 21, 2022.
• The 1st grading period went from 17,010 to 17,475 instructional minutes because the October 11, 2022, Professional Development was moved to October 21, 2022, adding an additional instructional day to this grading period.
• The 2nd grading period went from 39 to 38 days because the October 11, 2022, Professional Development was moved to October 21, 2022.
• The 2nd grading period went from 17,940 to 17,475 instructional minutes because the October 11, 2022, Professional Development was moved to October 21, 2022, thus removing an instructional day from this grading period.
• Two dates in the October Activities calendar were changed, the Project KEEP/Early Release for Students was changed to October 20, 2022, and the Professional Development was changed to October 21, 2022. The new dates in the October Activities were rearranged in chronological order to accommodate the revisions made.
