Weather Update

From Superintendent of Schools Dr. Luz Martinez:

Based on the most recent weather information received from the State and guidance from the Kingsville Fire Chief regarding local conditions, we remain cautiously optimistic about the potential impact of the approaching weather on our area. While the primary flooding concerns remain in the Hill Country, our area could receive approximately 1 to 5 inches of rainfall, with the possibility of localized minor flooding at some intersections and low-lying areas.

We will continue monitoring conditions overnight, and designated personnel will assess road conditions early tomorrow morning. If any changes to District operations are necessary, employees will be notified through their direct supervisors and administrators as early as possible, with the goal of communicating by 6:00 a.m. Families will be notified through the District's official communication channels, including automated/robo calls.

Please continue monitoring official District communications and exercise appropriate caution when traveling, particularly in low-lying areas or where water may be present on roadways. As always, the safety and well-being of our students, employees, and families remain our highest priority.

Upcoming Forecast

  • Tonight: Low around 77°F with heavy thunderstorms developing overnight (65% chance of rain).

  • Friday, Oct. 2: High of 85°F and low of 75°F with scattered thunderstorms and rain continuing.

  • Saturday, Oct. 3: High of 84°F and low of 74°F with light rain during the day.

Kingsville ISD will continue to monitor the weather tomorrow and will make a determination regarding tomorrow’s events based on conditions at that time.

Thank you for your understanding and for prioritizing the safety of our students, staff, and families.
