Harvey Elementary School Targeted Improvement Plan
Please visit the following link to have access to our ZOOM session:
Welcome!

A. D. Harvey Elementary School is the academic home to about 450 students in PreK4-fourth grade.  Our dedicated teachers and staff are committed to the education of the whole student body through an environment that promotes an open line of communication throughout the entire school community.  Everyone works together to meet and exceed the educational requirements of the State of Texas. This commitment involves the goal of making each child’s experience safe, enjoyable, and stimulating.  We stress academic excellence through differentiated instruction and good character through extra-curricular service learning.

The students at Harvey Elementary are heterogeneously grouped.  Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies are the core academic focus areas for the students throughout the day.  Fine Arts, Music, Computer Literacy, and Physical Education/Health complete the academic offerings.  We continuously strive to make curricular improvements in order to meet the educational needs of all of our students. Harvey Elementary School  has received  recognition form Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Healthy South Texas as a South Texas Healthy Campus for the 2019-2020 school year. Harvey has also been selected as a 2019-2020 Imagine Nation Beacon School.

Internet, including wireless access, is available in every classroom.  Many teachers are incorporating the use of technology by utilizing  multimedia presentations, and click-able worksheets throughout the curriculum.   Teachers are also utilizing many types of assistive technology for our special populations.  There are four modern computer labs available for students to use when accessing Happy Numbers Math, iStation Reading, Accelerated Reader, Living with Science Program, Think Through/Imagine Math, conducting research and completing class assignments, as well as a lab in the Harvey Library..  Students and staff are also excited to use the data projectors, smart boards, laptops, netbooks, and iPads throughout the school.

A full-time school counselor works with students daily, by listening, encouraging, supporting and helping the children to develop throughout their time in school.

Harvey is truly an educational community that emits a friendly and warm atmosphere.  It is a place where dedicated parents and professionals interact to positively influence the lives of the students.  A. D. Harvey Elementary School will continue to strive to give students the best education possible and to teach an appreciation for the value of every individual.

Thank you for visiting our school website. If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at 592-5246 or email me at omoreno@kingsvilleisd.com.

Respectfully ,

Ode A. Moreno, Principal

Dr. Owl Screener and Masks and Shields

As you are aware, Monday 09/28 begins our day with approximately 25% of our student body. While the expectation is that all students and staff utilize DrOwl self‐screener app daily, it is reasonable to expect that we may need to help some students learn how to download the app. Read more here please.

Letter to Texas Commissioner of Education, Mike Morath.

Kingsville ISD Board of Trustees asks that TEA reduce the required number of Instructional minutes, relax attendance requirements and waive testing standards for the 2020-2021 school year. These decisions would allow districts to focus their efforts on building a safe environment and strong curriculum for all students. Please, click here and read the complete letter.

Changes to Curbside Meal Service/Instructional Packet Pick-Up and Drop-Off:

Meal service will not be provided Friday, April 10th or
Monday, April 13th in observance of the Easter holiday.

The Kingsville Independent School District would like to continue to serve the community while reducing the amount of exposure by way of interaction of families with KISD staff. Therefore, beginning Tuesday, April 14th, KISD will provide one curbside meal/instructional packet service for the entire week. This service will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the following campuses:
- H.M. King High School (Pre-K through 12th grade packets)
- Memorial Middle School (Pre-K though 8th grade packets)
- Gillett Intermediate School (Pre-K though 8th grade packets)

KISD will provide all breakfast and lunches for the week on the first day of each week. All meals will be refrigerated and come with heating instructions. The District will also provide pick-up and drop-off of instructional packets during the same time frame.

Families that do not have the ability to utilize the curbside service can call (361) 595-8678 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to schedule delivery of meals and instructional materials.
