Mrs. Rebecca A. Perkins, Assistant Principal, H. M. King Early College High School

I bring over 18 years of experience in education to my role as Assistant Principal. Throughout my career, I have remained deeply committed to elevating instructional quality, strengthening literacy practices, supporting teachers, and ensuring that all students have access to rigorous, meaningful learning experiences.

I have taught at every grade level, but the heart of my teaching career was spent at Presbyterian Pan American School, where I dedicated 13 years to teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). This work shaped my belief in culturally responsive instruction, language rich classrooms, and the power of relationships in helping students thrive academically and personally.

Since joining Kingsville ISD six years ago, I have taught 7th and 8th grade Reading and Language Arts, served as Department Head for both Reading and Social Studies, and most recently worked as the Instructional Coordinator overseeing Reading and Social Studies districtwide. In these roles, I have led curriculum alignment efforts, supported teachers through coaching and professional development, and collaborated with campus and district leaders to strengthen Tier 1 instruction across content areas.

I am currently pursuing my Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Curriculum and Instruction, building on my Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. My academic and professional journey reflects my belief in continuous improvement, lifelong learning, and the responsibility educators carry in shaping opportunities for students.

Outside of my professional work, I am a devoted wife and mother. My husband is my greatest supporter, and together we are proud of our two children: one a senior at H. M. King Early College High School, and the other a junior at Texas A&M University–Kingsville, who graduated from H. M. King Early College High School last year in the top ten of his class. My family’s connection to Kingsville ISD strengthens my commitment to serving our students, staff, and community with excellence and heart.

I look forward to continuing to partner with teachers, families, district leaders, and the Kingsville community to advance instructional quality, support student achievement, and uphold the strong traditions of Kingsville ISD.
