--Superintendent’s Welcome! --
Dear KISD Faculty and Staff,
Last night the KISD school board approved me as the Superintendent for the Kingsville Independent School District. My name is Elida Bera and I am honored and excited to serve in this capacity. As your superintendent, my goal is to use my educational background and my professional experiences to positively impact the lives of the students and staff of this community. My plan is centered on the four KISD letters:
Keep students first. My primary responsibility is to be an advocate for our students. Therefore, all of my decisions will be intentional and motivated by what is in the best interest of our students.
Inspire. Initially, when thinking about this word, I wanted to be very specific as to what to inspire—inspire the possibilities, inspire success, inspire greatness. Instead, “inspire” will stay as an open action word to allow us to determine what we want to inspire.
Stay Focused. It is very tempting to grasp at programs or promotions that promise to improve our accountability rating. However, we must closely monitor our own data to guide our curriculum decisions and determine the instructional delivery to ensure our students’ success.
Deliver Success. We are responsible to deliver success to those we serve –the students, the teachers and the community. They are depending on us and we must deliver.
I’m excited to become a Brahma and supporting the legacy and pride that has made Kingsville a community that cares about the success of their district. As I’ve talked to community members, business owners, principals and central office staff, the sense of urgency to restore the success to Kingsville ISD is evident. I am committed to working collaboratively with you to ensure we deliver success. Together we can and will make Kingsville ISD the leading district it can be. As your Superintendent, I will stand behind you, alongside you or in front of you to reach this goal. We have a lot of work ahead, but I am not afraid of hard work.
